The Kenpo's also fun because I don't need to wear shoes now that I have the rubber flooring. I also get to lose the shirt because it's all cardio based and I don't have to get down on the floor. All I need are my gloves and my trunks obviously (the neighbors insist on this).
This week I wore my 16 oz Everlast boxing gloves instead of the MMA gloves I wore last week. The boxing gloves provide much better protection for my hands and wrists. The gloves are also heavier so I get a better workout. Trust me. When you deliver 100 continuous punches to a heavy bag, your hands start to feel like lead.
Also, as I've mentioned in past Kenpo posts, the workouts are much harder and more fun now that I'm using the bags and not punching air. The bags provide resistance and I feel like I'm getting a plyometric type workout for my upper body. A few hours after this workout my chest and arms get all achy and my muscles feel like stones.
In the picture, I'm getting ready to deliver a side kick. It's so fun to escape the boring world of an accountant sometimes. Life is good.
